Posted 7th Feb 2018.After a week of much cooler conditions, Summer is about to come back and hit large parts of Queensland with relentless temperatures over 40C. Above image via BSCH.
A broad area of low pressure will develop over Southern QLD during the weekend with hot dry South West winds. Large parts of Central, Southern and South East QLD will see temperatures rise rapidly with 35C forecast on the coast and up to 44C inland on Sunday.
During Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the low pressure region will expand in size to cover 3/4’s of the state South from Townsville. As a result, temperatures will continue to rise with most locations across the North West, Central, Southern and South East expected to see maximum temperatures between 38 and 44C across the 3 days.
There is the chance of some afternoon storm activity with some severe cells across the South East Coast from Monday onwards.
Only people in locations along the very exposed coastline (within 10km) will escape the very hot conditions, though it will still be very warm and humid.
