South East QLD Heavy Rain & Flash Flooding

Darling Downs & South East Coast districts

Weather Situation

At 6:30am Thursday an inland low pressure system is generating north to South tilted trough bands along the South East Coast and inland areas the Darling Downs and Granite Belt.

These bands are producing extended periods of locally moderate to heavy rainfall which has a high risk of causing flash flooding.

At this stage low lying flood prone areas are at risk along with locations that have poor drainage.

NOTE: Within hours this may escalate to a very dangerous situation so closely monitor conditions and warnings.

The weather system is expected to hang around all day and actually last another 5 days so this is just the start of the heavy rain & flood potential.
