Severe Weather Situation
At 11am Thursday a low pressure system was located over Southern Inland QLD which is drawing in huge amounts of moisture from the North West and North East. This moisture along with a strong surface trough is leading to widespread moderate to locally heavy rain areas. Locations under persistent rainfall are likely to see flash flooding during the afternoon.
The Emergency Warning and extreme rainfall with dangerous flash flooding has now eased in the Caboolture area.
Widespread falls of 50-100mm are likely with locally higher totals to 200mm possible.
Extended rainfall over catchments are likely to cause river and creek rises. These will be warned for and issued when required.
Further rain and storms - some severe are forecast everyday until Monday so this weather system has a long way to go yet!
